Staining Exterior Wood Trim, Windows, and Siding
Staining exterior natural wood trim, windows, and siding requires careful attention to detail.
Typically, we begin by gently stripping the wood to reveal its natural base. If stripping isn’t needed, we opt for a soft-wash to clean the wood, followed by scuff sanding (dustless for windows) to ensure optimal adhesion. It’s important to note that we never use pressure washing, as this can irreversibly alter your wood’s appearance.
After completing our thorough preparation process, we apply our signature 3-coat system with precision.
Our renowned stain system features the Benjamin Moore Sansin Foundation coat, followed by the Sansin SDF stain coat, and finished with the Sansin top coat. For rough-cut siding, we utilize a two-coat process with Sansin SDF for optimal results.

When it comes to staining your wooden door, we follow a meticulous process to ensure exceptional results.
First, we mask or remove hardware and proceed with stripping or dustless-sanding the door surface. We also take care to remove any weather stripping temporarily to allow the door to close properly during the drying process.
Next, we apply the stain followed by a top coat for added protection and longevity. For optimal results, we highly recommend Sansin’s three-coat system, including the foundation coat, SDF stain coat, and clear top coat.
When it’s time to enhance the beauty of your deck, we start by ensuring it’s thoroughly cleaned and prepped. This involves carefully stripping, cleaning, and sanding the surface to prepare it for staining. If it’s a maintenance coat, we skip the stripping step.
Proper surface preparation is crucial for optimal stain absorption and a stunning finish. Even new wood requires sanding to ensure a smooth and even application. Once the deck is prepped, we apply two coats of Benjamin Moore DEC stain.

If you’re considering staining interior elements like doors, wood panels, millwork, window trim, baseboards, trim work, railings, or banisters, look no further.
Typically, interior staining involves a scuff-sand and two coats of a tinted clear coat for a beautiful finish. However, in some cases, we may need to discuss additional steps like stripping, buffing, or implementing a three-coat stain system. Surfaces that are frequently walked on may require a more durable approach.
