Staining Exterior Wood Trim, Windows, and Siding

Staining exterior natural wood trim, windows, and siding requires careful attention to detail.

Typically, we begin by gently stripping the wood to reveal its natural base. If stripping isn’t needed, we opt for a soft-wash to clean the wood, followed by scuff sanding (dustless for windows) to ensure optimal adhesion. It’s important to note that we never use pressure washing, as this can irreversibly alter your wood’s appearance.

02 Our 3-coat system

After completing our thorough preparation process, we apply our signature 3-coat system with precision.

Our renowned stain system features the Benjamin Moore Sansin Foundation coat, followed by the Sansin SDF stain coat, and finished with the Sansin top coat. For rough-cut siding, we utilize a two-coat process with Sansin SDF for optimal results.

03 Interior staining

If you’re considering staining interior elements like doors, wood panels, millwork, window trim, baseboards, trim work, railings, or banisters, look no further.

Typically, interior staining involves a scuff-sand and two coats of a tinted clear coat for a beautiful finish. However, in some cases, we may need to discuss additional steps like stripping, buffing, or implementing a three-coat stain system. Surfaces that are frequently walked on may require a more durable approach.
